Ask any crew what they actually wear to work and the answer is usually a hat. That’s why a good embroidered hat does more for your name than a stack of business cards. It goes to the job site, the ballfield and the grocery store, and it gets worn for years.
We’re 1st Chance Graphics, a family shop in Bogart, about 9 miles from Watkinsville. We stitch hats, polos and jackets on three 6-head Tajima embroidery machines, so 18 pieces sew at the same time. Here’s what Oconee County business owners should know before ordering.
Hats, polos or jackets?
- Hats are the workhorse. Richardson 112 truckers, Yupoong snapbacks, flat bills and two-tone five-panels all take a logo right on the front panel.
- Polos and work shirts make a crew look like a company. A left-chest logo is the classic spot, and you can add a name so everybody knows whose shirt is whose.
- Jackets can carry a small chest logo or a big design across the whole back. One of our favorite jobs was a run of puffer jacket backs for Bar G Horse & Cattle Supply, stitched in full color.
What makes a logo stitch well
Embroidery is thread sewn into fabric, so a few things matter more than they do on a screen:
- Size. Very small text and hairline details can fill in. If your logo has a tagline in tiny type, we may suggest a simpler version for hats.
- Bold shapes. Solid areas and clean outlines look sharp in thread.
- Color count. Each color is a thread change. Most logos stitch great as they are, and we’ll tell you if a color needs to merge.
You don’t have to figure any of that out yourself. Send us whatever file you have, and we’ll set your logo up for thread and show you the design before a single stitch goes down.
Same logo, different colors
One of the easiest ways to get more out of a hat order is to change the thread. RK Diesel ran the same logo on gray trucker hats in pink, red, orange, blue and green, so everybody on the crew could pick a favorite. Same design, five looks.
Prefer a patch?
Leather patch hats are a clean, rugged alternative to stitching. We put a leather patch with your logo on the hat style you pick.
How ordering works
